Well it's not a life or death crisis but as I'm over here looking at cars for my brother of course I fall into a TRILLION or so what if situations for myself. Btw my brother is back learn how to drive a manual (save the manuals!) that's why I've stumbled across so many good deals.
I was sitting back explaining to dad that I've come to the realization that the biggest engine I've had was 2.2L and that was in my 1993 Accord though with the many times I've been pulled over for speeding you'd think I had more power under the hood. I was just browsing Cars.com to see what deals are out there and I kept getting drawn back to Honda for some reason. There were a few V6 Accord coupes in the price range yet I was constantly drawn towards the '08-'11 Civic Si with that sweeeeet DOHC K20 motor. If you've never driven one I advise you do so and savor the experience of that VTEC.
So OPPO is there something wrong with me that in the of V8s and whatever else size motor your heart desires I refuse to get out of the world of I4s?
I honestly just can't bring myself to abandon it.

That's just showing the various dash lights with the key in the on position. Nothing to see here.

Nothing wrong with the Honda K20. I find my wife's Infiniti Q60 (née G37 coupe) too much for public roads without getting into trouble.
Wouldn't mind a 1st gen TSX either.

Those have the original K24. Very good motor but it doesn't give the same feeling as the K20. Funny enough I was thinking about getting a G37 Sport heavily. Upon further review apparently it takes a lot to net any power games. The Civic Si can be found around $12k at dealerships with less than 50k on the dash. I think I'll have to partake in these savings toward the end of the year..

I know.

K20 is a great engine, it's just that crap transmission they pair it with. Pretty much the sole reason I sold mine was because of it. Although I do suggest you open your mind to other engines. The torque and linear curve of a V-8 is something I yearn for in very car I drive.

Had an '02 RSX-S with the K20A2 and that never felt like it had enough power, possibly because of the gearing (taller than the '05+ RSX-S and 8th gen Civic Si).
Had an '06 TSX and that actually felt adequately powered, until fully loaded with people and luggage with the A/C on.
Also had an '90 Accord and '98 Integra LS so I've also been on the low end of the power spectrum.
The Q60/G37 ... power and torque is nice, but I don't think I've gone full throttle more than 10 times total and the mpg is abysmal (getting around 16 without a lead foot!).

Whoa whoa whoa. What was wrong with the transmission in your eyes? I've heard noting but praise from it.

Nice to know that there's more knowledgeable Honda people on here. I'm pretty sure the gearing changes things because with the updated transmission that car moves man.
I'd honestly consider the Acura TL or the 05-07 Accord V6 manual. Problem is they typically are up in mileage in the below $15k bracket. Also not sure if they have a Limited Slip Differential. It's essential to me because I plan to do some spirited driving. If the newer Accord Coupes had one I'd be all over them. Alas that don't.
Fortunately I ride solo most of the time so the weight thing won't affect me often. Also I plan on possibly giving it some forced induction. I may do an all motor build but we shall see. Parts are cheap and plenty for decent power in these cars.

I had an '08 Civic LX that I bought new. It was a great car, really reliable, but really boring. I flirted with upgrading to a newer Si last year, but I decided I wanted to go a little more upscale. I started looking for TSX's, but I couldn't find a manual. I found an '06 TL with a manual and I fell in love. That particular car was a bit too worn for my taste and the condition and miles didn't justify the used lot's asking price of $16k. I made up my mind I wanted a manual TL, but they stopped the 6MT in the base 3.2 in '06. If I wanted something newer, I'd have to go Type S, so I did!
That concludes my long winded story about the one time I wanted an Si.

That's a rather marvelous story. Glad to see you stayed in the Honda family and didn't abandon ship. What has drawn me to the Civic Si now is that they can be had for some really decent prices. The picture of the car I used above has a listing price a little over $12k. Hard to beat in that price bracket.

I see no problem with that. Different strokes for different folks. Some people like high revving engines and some like low revving high initial torque engines.
Those Civic Sis certainly are starting to look mighty attractive though aren't they? I saw one at my campus parking garage on RPF1s and did a double take. It looked so damn good. If I wasn't so obsessed with wanting something impractical for the sake of having something impractical I'd probably want a Civic Si for a daily driver.

yeah that's right around what the ones I was looking were prices at. I think if I hadn't already had my LX for so long, I would have got an Si last year. TSX's were going for a couple grand more.
There's a Mugen Si that I see around town too, I wouldn't have minded buying that!

Look up the 1-2, 2-3 shift issues. Mostly with the shitty oem clutch master cylinder, but even the upgraded 09-11 transmissions have the same issue. The master cylinder wont disengage the clutch fast enough due to the design of it. Clutch to the floor and shifting at redline will make it still grind gears. Also they are incredibly weak, as most Honda transmissions are.

Haha, I don't know about knowledgeable, I just drive the cars and complain about them.
TLs with a manual have LSD, none of the Accords do.
If spirited driving is involved ... RWD etc etc ... IS300? Otherwise I'd lean toward something lighter like the Civic; the TL/Accord are pretty nose heavy and you'll be wrestling it more than enjoying it, unless that's your thing.
